Džumhur defeated Baghdatis for the quarter-finals of the tournament

Damir Džumhur defeated Marcos Baghdatis 2:0 in sets in the round of 16 of the ATP tournament in St. Petersburg, reports Patria agency.

In the third game of the first set, Džumhur lost a point on his serve, but in the next one, he broke back.

After that, they continued to win points on their serve, until the decisive game when Damir took another break and won the first set with a score of 6:4.

He carried the good rhythm from the first set into the second, and after winning the first game, he immediately broke in the second, thus taking a 2:0 lead.

At a score of 4:2 in the second set, Damir had a slight dip in his game. Namely, he had two break points, which he did not convert, and then in the next game, he allowed his opponent to take a point on his serve.

However, Damir returned the favor, taking another break for a 5:3 lead, but then the Cypriot again took a game on the serve of the BiH representative, thus staying in the match.

After that, Baghdatis confirmed the break and reached equality. Both players took points on their serves, and the second set went to a tie-break, which Damir won 7:4 in his favor.

After the victory over Baghdatis, Džumhur achieved a new career ranking, and for now, he has secured 52nd place on the ATP list.
