Damir Džumhur has secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the $664,825 tournament in Winston-Salem, USA, reports the Patria agency.
Bosnia's top tennis player defeated world No. 58 Horacio Zeballos of Argentina 2-0 in sets in the third round.
Džumhur won the first set 7:5 after a tough battle, while in the second set he advanced more easily to 6:3 and a place in the quarterfinals.
With the victory over Zeballos, Džumhur will also achieve the best ranking of his career on the ATP list. Starting Monday, he will be at least world No. 65, while his previous career-high ranking was 66.
In the quarterfinals, Džumhur will face world No. 49 Hyeon Chung of South Korea.
