Džumhur after career win: This is my gift to the citizens of BiH on Independence Day

The best BiH tennis player, Damir Džumhur, defeated Stan Wawrinka 2-0 in sets (7:6, 6:3) in the first round of the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai. Džumhur dedicated this great triumph against the third tennis player in the world as a gift to all citizens of BiH on the occasion of Independence Day, writes Patria.

- I think I proved with this victory that I can play with the best players in the world. I knew it, but of course, it takes time for results to come. Many were skeptical about my season, but I showed that I can play on any surface and against any player. I played an excellent match. I fought from beginning to end. I served well, except for the game at 5:1, where I made three double faults because I felt the pressure, as I should have finished the match. I dedicate this victory to all citizens of BiH on the occasion of the Independence Day of our only BiH - says Džumhur.

Džumhur will play against Marcel Granollers, the 36th player in the world, in the 2nd round.
