Džindić and Novalić - gravediggers of BiH's energy independence!

(Patria) - Almir Bečarević, an expert in the gas sector, sent an open letter, prompted by all the events in front of the FBiH Government building where BiH miners spent the night under the open sky.

At the beginning of this Open Letter, he quoted a part of the statement by Jasmin Salkić, former director of BH-Gas, upon submitting his resignation to the FBiH Government. Whether it is a prophecy or just a logical sequence of events in the last 7 years, let the readers judge for themselves, I quote:

“All the previous period in which I have been exposed by Fadil Novalić and Nermin Džindić and the silence of this duo regarding crime and support for it, the destruction of a state company, secret recordings of directors, surveillance, fabricating cases, and selling the state's interests for the personal ambitions of this duo is something I do not agree with and do not want to participate in.

The duo currently steering the Federation of BiH are the gravediggers of BiH's energy independence, time will tell.”

Now I would quote Anđelija after the meeting at the FBiH Government: "We have brought the energy sector into an unenviable situation, and if we continue like this, the Federation's electricity supply will be questionable in the next 15 days."

 Whether these two statements by the directors are the same sentences, I have no doubt, but are these two directors to blame for what is happening or what has happened?

One more introductory note, I have almost 8 years of service as the director of BH-Gas, and a total of 26 years in the energy sector, of which 4 years in JP Elektroprivreda BiH, and the rest in BH-Gas. I am a child of JP Elektroprivreda BiH, and a doctor for natural gas.

All that is happening now is an exclusive consequence of inaction in Džindić's ministry and solving problems by pouring gasoline on the fire. When we had a problem with the TurkStream, the solution was to connect to TurkStream without any FBiH Government decisions and without analyzing the complete situation. The minister said it was done that way at the time. Gas prices increased by approx. 25%, but someone will pay the difference in November and December.

From January, gas will become more expensive, but everyone is playing dumb and thinking that some miracle will happen. Then there will be meetings, negotiations, agreements, requests for money, etc., but now millions of KM will not be needed, but tens of millions of KM. They made us dependent on TurkStream, and they sabotaged the Southern Interconnection wherever they could, and Mr. Salkić spoke about this in his resignation, and I supported his statement because I trust my eyes more than this duo that destroys everything they touch.

It is shameful to negotiate about a salary of 580 KM, and what would we all do if we were in the miners' place. The problem is that now the miners are also singing, but in the uncertainty of life, it is better to go with a song on your face than to fall submissively before this duo.

It is better to resign than to implement the insane ideas of this duo. When will the parties realize that there is no salvation in the energy sector as long as this duo sits where they are and holds meetings around the clock as if these 24 hours did not exist for years before, i.e., so many years and months that last night's 24 hours were precisely decisive for the miners' demands.

Was it really decisive on December 30, 2020, in the afternoon, when verbal approvals were given for the transition to TurkStream with the claim that gas would become cheaper, and we got drastically more expensive gas and the beginning of the agony in the gas sector. Is it normal to inform this duo in March about what will happen with gas prices, and now dramatic meetings are needed to cover tens of millions of KM. I responsibly claim that everything could have been different, but putting out fires with gasoline is the pattern of this duo. 

Only quality investigations into all events are the cure for everything, including this situation with electricity and gas, because JP Elektroprivreda BiH was also informed about the situation and forecasts in a timely manner, but everything that was done led to drama now, and January is near.

Finally, let the politicians understand that companies are not responsible, but those who determine strategies and raising hands in the FBiH Government turn into a farce, as during the decision on Salkić's "dismissal" when they boasted that the Government's decision was unanimous. That was the most important thing, not what would happen.

The problem is not in that consensus of hands but in the consequences they have caused, which are a higher price of gas, the next drastic increase in gas prices that awaits you, the postponed Southern Interconnection project, the failed Block 7 project, miners' salaries of 570 KM, miners' songs and their families' tears. Please leave, because behind this text stands 26 years of work in the energy sector and a biography that actually allows me to tell you this,” states Bečarević.
