Jezerski-Dijelovi community solemnly opened the doors of a new mosque: A religious and spiritual center for the entire region

(Patria) - In the Jezerski-Dijelovi community, part of the Islamic Community's Medžlis in Bosanska Krupa, a newly built mosque was solemnly opened – a religious facility that will undoubtedly be a spiritual center and a symbol of unity for this region.

The ceremony was attended by the highest representatives of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Reisul-ulema Husein-ef. Kavazović, Bihać Mufti hafiz Mehmed-ef. Kudić, Chief Imam of the Bosanska Krupa Medžlis Muhamed-ef. Begić, numerous imams, representatives of local authorities, and believers from all parts of Krajina.

– Today, brothers and sisters, we are witnessing a great and blessed event. We are not just opening another building. We are opening the heart of the community, a school of upbringing and morality, a space for meeting and learning – said Reisul-ulema Kavazović on this occasion.

Reflecting on the importance of the mosque in the life of a Muslim and the community as a whole, he emphasized its deep connection with the identity and culture of Bosniak Muslims.

He stressed that the mosque is not just a place for worship, but also the foundation of the social order, a place that shapes the moral character of the community, a place of meeting and solidarity, but also a kind of guide towards universal values.

– The mosque teaches us how to be better people, how to measure correctly in trade, in business, in justice, and in mutual relations. If we do not fairly pay someone for their effort, if we privilege the incompetent over the capable, we are measuring incorrectly. And the Quran says: "Woe to the defilers who, when they take a measure from people, take in full, but when they measure or weigh for them, they give less." – warned the Reisul-ulema.

He also spoke about the situation in the world, especially in Palestine and Gaza, saying that oppression and injustice are always temporary, and that Allah will give everyone what they deserve.

– It is a sin to do wrong to anyone. And the evil being done today to our children and brothers in Gaza will not go unpunished. Allah will not allow oppression to last forever – said Reisul-ulema Kavazović, among other things.

A Community with Historical Depth

The Dijelovi community is today the second largest in this region, and its foundations reach deep into history. It was formed by the settlement of Bosniaks from the interior of Bosnia, as well as muhajirs – refugees from Lika.

In the Ottoman period, according to historical sources, this community was known as Mala Hiseta. The name "Hiseta" itself comes from the Turkish word hisse (part), derived from the Arabic hissa, and denotes parts – referring to settlements composed of smaller neighborhoods, which formed a whole connected to some fortress, captaincy, or religious community.

The Bihać Mufti, hafiz Mehmed-ef. Kudić, spoke about the importance of this event for the entire muftiship.

– In the Bihać Muftiship, we have 240 communities and as many mosques. Most of them were built by the proud and generous hands of our community members. This is the best proof that those who build a mosque have the will and strength to protect, maintain, and regularly visit it. Experience teaches us that Allah can test us again if we neglect mosques. Mosques that are not visited begin to empty and spiritually decay, and then they remain abandoned in this world – said Mufti Kudić.

From Foundation to Minaret

The old mosque in Dijelovi, although a witness to many generations and events, could no longer meet the needs of the growing community.

Therefore, the community assembly decided in 2021 to build a new mosque. Construction work began the same year, and the ceremony for laying the foundation stone was held in 2022.

Three years later, the community and the entire region witness the realization of a great dream. The new mosque, with its modern architecture and traditional elements, is not just a place for prayer – it is a place of gathering, learning, mutual support, and preserving identity.

– From the small old mosque that served us for 58 years, today we enter a new, more spacious, and more beautiful house of Allah. Not because we were cramped, but because our hearts have grown, because this is the generation honored to build something that will outlive us all. This endowment, this mosque, will be a witness to our intentions and our deeds before the Lord of the worlds. We thank every benefactor, donor, everyone who gave of themselves for themselves. He who builds the house of Allah, Allah builds him a house in Paradise – said Chief Imam Muhamed-ef. Begić.

Along with appropriate addresses, ilahis were performed during the program, excerpts from the Quran were recited, and a prayer was offered for the auspicious use of the new facility.

The mosque was declared a waqf (endowment) of the Islamic Community, and Reisul-ulema Kavazović handed over the keys to the benefactors Muhamed and Senija Harčević, after which they jointly opened the doors of this mosque.
