Džejla Makaš European Taekwondo Champion

(Patria) - The history of BiH sports was once again written in golden letters today, and its creator is Džejla Makaš, a member of the Novi Grad Sarajevo taekwondo club, who won a gold medal in the cadet category up to 41 kg at the European Cadet Championship held in Valencia, Spain.

After winning five fights, Džejla deservedly stood on the winner's podium. In the first fight, she defeated the representative of Russia 10:5, in the second fight, the competitor from Croatia 22:11, in the third fight, she eliminated the Italian representative by point gap (20 points difference) with 41:20, the fourth fight in a very close and dramatic duel against the representative of Great Britain with 18:17, and finally, a victory over the Bulgarian competitor with 15:9 confirmed her title of European Champion.

- The outstanding result of our competitor is another in a series that writes the golden pages of the Taekwondo Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our competitors, the Novi Grad selection, have been achieving exceptional results for a long time and are at the very top of BiH taekwondo and the region. Džejla achieved results in the control tournaments that preceded the European Championship, which suggested that a medal from the European Championship would not be absent. I am glad that we and her parents believed in her, and she rewarded us all in the end with this top success.

In general, the club does not lack medals from World and European competitions, we only hope for an Olympic one. This result is just proof that our competitors, with a quality plan and work program, are competing equally, shoulder to shoulder with fighters from all over Europe and achieving outstanding successes.
