Džeba reveals HDZ priorities: Interviews with candidates for RTVFBiH Management Board on 3 September, followed by election of Independent Board members

(Patria) - The Joint Working Group of the Commissions for Elections and Appointments, which began work in June, has so far announced calls for members of the Independent Board and members of the Management Board of RTV FBiH.

Members of this commission are Aner Žuljević (SDP), Goran Opsenica (HDZ), Rasim Smajlović (NIP) from the House of Representatives of the PFBiH, while from the House of Peoples are Milan Ševo (HDZ), who is also the president, and Kristina Petrović (SDP). Member Mirnes Bašić (SDA) resigned at the beginning of July because he did not want to participate in the work in a way that legal experts from the OHR would interpret for them what can and cannot be done. This particularly refers to the election of members of the Management Board of RTV FBiH. Although the law stipulates that one member is elected each year, the Commission announced a call for four members, justifying this by the fact that there has been no Management Board for years.

However, besides commission member Rasim Smajlović from NIP, who often appears in the media, Damir Džeba, head of the Croat Club in the House of Peoples of the Parliament of FBiH, is also well-informed about the entire procedure and the work of this Commission.

In a statement for RTV Herceg-Bosna, he announced that on 3 September, the Joint Working Group will conduct interviews with 11 candidates for members of the Management Board.

Speaking about Federal Television, Džeba said that the director of FTV has been a Bosniak (Džemal Šabić, editor's note) for 16 years and that "order must be established there."

"We have finally brought this to a conclusion to elect members of the Management Board who will elect a new director and a new Programming Council," Džeba said.

He is also familiar with the procedure for electing members of the Independent Board, stating that 32 applications have been received, which will only be opened on 3 September.

After the members of the Independent Board are elected, they will, upon constitution, announce a call for the director and deputy director of the Federal Police Administration.

In this context, amendments to two laws have also been initiated, which will allow personnel from other Ministries of Interior to apply for the positions of director and deputy director of the FUP.

However, these amendments must go through the parliamentary procedure, which is evidently expected already in September.
