Džanko Zukobašić: Sarajevo Canton authorities and Selimbegović are breaking laws and misleading the public in search of votes!

(Patria) - The Party for BiH councilor in the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipal Council, Nejra Džanko Zukobašić, reacted to a news item from the KS Government website, which she believes was published "for the purpose of covertly promoting the election campaign of the President of the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipal Council, Mirza Selimbegović, and which misleads the public or, as they say in folk terms, pulls the wool over people's eyes".

"I cannot help but react because such news has truly crossed all boundaries. Namely, the website of the KS Government features photos of the President of the Municipal Council and the Minister of Economy of Sarajevo Canton, along with a notice stating that the Municipality of Novi Grad has expressed interest in opening a Center for Entrepreneurship Development. The President has moved at the speed of light from a representative to an executive role in the last month, regardless of the consequences that come with it," states Džanko Zukobašić.

She reminds that the President can represent citizens (like all councilors), submit initiatives, chair sessions according to the rules of procedure and statute of the Council, and can communicate about future projects, only and solely on behalf of the council, if authorized by it, which he is not.

"Anyone who knows how the Municipality operates knows who represents the Municipality, according to the law and statute, as well as in all activities. The President of the Municipal Council cannot and must not present any projects and activities on behalf of the Municipality. This 'interest', as they stated on the website, is likely something that the municipal services are not even aware of, and besides, there is already a Business Development Center in the Municipality of Novi Grad. The Council as a body has never given any authorization or mandate for election activities in which the role of the President of the Municipal Council is used. Representatives of the authorities in the Canton, as usual, pay no attention to laws or procedures, thus undermining the state and institutions for the sake of party interests and collecting cheap election points," concluded Džanko Zukobašić.
