(Patria) - Nejra Maglajcedovic (34) was supposed to give birth on December 29th, when her due date was. But her little Džan had other plans.
Namely, Maglajcedovic's baby is the first baby born in the German district of Rhein-Sieg this year. He was born on January 1st, at 0:52.
“As I was going to the delivery room, I could still hear fireworks outside. The baby was born naturally, I didn't want a C-section because I know it's painful,” explains Nejra, who has two older children, born in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nejra is from Bosnia and Herzegovina, but currently lives with her family in Sankt Augustin-Niederpleis. They say Džan is an impressive baby, weighing 4380 grams and measuring 57 centimeters, Nezavisne novine reports.
The mother explains that the due date was actually December 29th: “I had mild contractions, but my blood pressure was high, so we waited all day yesterday. And then I hoped he might be a New Year's baby. January 1st is a truly special birthday, now he can celebrate both his birthday and New Year at the same time,” says the mother of little Džan.
Her older children, a 15-year-old son and a 10-year-old daughter, were at their aunt's in the Netherlands:
“We thought they could celebrate New Year's there, and I could give birth in peace. However, as soon as they found out they had a brother, they immediately wanted to come home,” says Nejra.
Regarding whether Džan was planned, the mother says: “We always felt like something was missing at home, because these children are already grown up, and we are still young. So everything just fell into place,” she says.
