Džaferović: The Troika, for a handful of power, turned Bosniaks into a political afterthought, and now it's come due

(Patria) - Head of the Bosniak Club in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament, Šefik Džaferović (SDA), was a guest on today's edition of the show "Dobar dan BiH" on Hayat television.

Džaferović spoke, among other things, about the stagnation in the work of the House regarding reforms and BiH's European path. First, he addressed the catastrophic floods that have struck our country.

- I take this opportunity to once again extend my sincerest condolences to the families of the victims. It is becoming evident that BiH will face climate change and its consequences, as these events are happening incomparably more frequently now than before, and we need to pay much more attention and be more serious.

Responsibility must also be investigated, if there is human responsibility, a human factor that contributed to a greater disaster, and all those responsible must answer for it - said Džaferović.

He then highlighted the reaction of the people and the solidarity that, as always in difficult times, we have selflessly shown.

- We are a people of solidarity, we are known for it, and people rushed from all sides to Jablanica, Konjic, Fojnica, Kreševo, and Kiseljak to help the unfortunate.

But I think that as a country, as a society, we have not done everything necessary to prevent these disasters or to mitigate their consequences.

I think there is a lot that we, as a country, need to do to prevent such situations - added Džaferović.

He emphasized that the SDA is satisfied with the overall results of the recently held Local Elections.

- We achieved our electoral goals and confirmed our position as the strongest political party in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and from that perspective, I am satisfied.

It is certain that we will have a larger number of councilors and greater political strength compared to the previous Local Elections, although, as always, it can be better and there can always be more.

The SDA, as always, will conduct an analysis after the final results are announced and see where things are going well and where they are not.

On this occasion, I want to especially congratulate Erna Merdić-Smailhodžić, who was elected mayor of Zavidovići. This will certainly mean a refreshment, and I truly believe that such a beautiful community deserves such a mayor.

You know that I was born in Zavidovići, and Erna now has the obligation to take care of Zavidovići for us, but also to ensure that the voice of that city is heard more and louder in the overall BiH public.

For example, regarding the construction of Corridor 5C, Zavidovići should have been directly connected to the corridor. This passed by quietly because there was precisely that lack of voice and clear message from Zavidovići.

I told them that. I think that with the election of the new mayor, Zavidovići can expect a new perspective, and I once again sincerely congratulate Erna - said Džaferović.

He also assesses that Local Elections are always a test because they show the mood of the people towards political parties in our country. In that regard, he adds that he is not surprised that some parties have doubled their electoral results.

- You can deceive people once or make false promises, but you cannot do that all the time, and it eventually comes due.

The main mistake of the Troika is that they did not recognize the moment after the elections and excluded the strongest political party. That is not how it is done, because they turned the pro-Bosniak political factor into a political afterthought just for a handful of power - stated Džaferović.
