Džaferović held meetings with European parliamentarians

(Patria) - BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović met in Brussels with Green Party representatives and members of the BiH Friends Group in the European Parliament Tineke Strik and
Romeo Franz.

The current security and political crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina was discussed. The topics of conversation included past and planned activities of the European Parliament regarding the
deteriorated security situation in BiH. BiH Presidency member Džaferović emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of the international community, has made enormous progress in the past 26 years, and that this progress is threatened by unilateral actions of the authorities of the RS entity.

BiH Presidency member Džaferović underlined that peace has been preserved in Bosnia and Herzegovina thanks to the established state institutions, and that the attack by Milorad Dodik and the RS authorities on the state and its institutions is an attack on the foundations of peace.

The focus of the discussions was on Dodik's announcements that he would attack the Armed Forces barracks, and attempt to illegally prevent state institutions from operating in the territory of the RS entity by force.

BiH Presidency member Džaferović stated that the European Union should provide full support to the Office of the High Representative, as well as mechanisms for sanctioning actors who undermine the constitutional order. He said it is better to stop one politician than to allow him to drag the entire country into destabilization and conflict.

It was emphasized that the peace and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina are essential for the peace and stability of the European Union.

The situation in the region was discussed, and it was emphasized that the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is not an isolated problem, but rather subject to negative influences and interference from neighboring countries.

BiH Presidency member Džaferović stressed that amendments to the Election Law must be implemented with full respect for the essence of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, and in a way that all political parties, including the government and the opposition, take a common stance.

The harmful effects of the idea of reducing the dialogue on amendments to the Election Law to a format of only two political parties were discussed, as this is a state issue that requires the involvement of everyone in its resolution.
