Džaferović after meeting with Chollet: Unilateral withdrawal from institutions is not possible

(Patria) - Šefik Džaferović, member of the BiH Presidency, addressed the public after a meeting with Derek Chollet, senior political advisor to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The meeting was also attended by Gabriel Escobar, US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, and US Ambassador to BiH Erik Nelson.

After the meeting, Džaferović stated that the US supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH.

- What is very important and significant is that unilateral withdrawal from institutions is not possible. The blockade of institutions must not continue; institutions must function. Within the Presidency, the Council of Ministers, and the Parliamentary Assembly. Today we also received a letter from the US Secretary of State, and you will be informed about that letter, said Džaferović.

He added that he is confident that the institutions will be unblocked and that BiH will continue on the path of reforms, fulfilling the 14 priorities.

- There is simply no other way. The whole world sees that. It is in the interest of all of us living in this country. We need to improve the framework in which we operate. I hope that with our friends from the US, the EU, and other friends we will resolve this situation, he emphasized.

When asked whether sanctions were discussed, he stated that the media will be informed in the letter they will receive.

- We are suffering enormous damage. The budget has not been adopted. You saw this summer, we cannot help the population with the help of the Armed Forces. There is no decision, no contract, added Džaferović.
