Džaferović: Entire wartime leadership of RS convicted of joint criminal enterprise and genocide

SARAJevo, (Patria) - War criminal Radovan Karadžić has today received his deserved punishment, and all of us who suffered his terror, as well as the entire world, can be satisfied, stated at the press conference by member of the Presidency of BiH Šefik Džaferović, on the occasion of Radovan Karadžić's verdict.

“We waited for justice for almost two and a half decades and we have received it, but it is partial because the Appellate Panel did not accept the evidence that genocide was committed in seven other towns besides Srebrenica. The absence of a legal qualification of genocide for Prijedor, Bratunac, Zvornik, Vlasenica, Sanski Most, Ključ, and Foča, as well as for the whole of BiH, does not diminish the responsibility of the masterminds and perpetrators of the crimes,” Džaferović stated.

He added that after this verdict, “the entire wartime political and military leadership of Republika Srpska has been convicted of a joint criminal enterprise, genocide, and crimes against humanity.”

“The largest part of the military leadership of RS has also been convicted for the same crimes, and I do not perceive these verdicts as a verdict against the Serb people, but as verdicts against the political project of Milošević's regime in Belgrade, which was carried out in BiH by Karadžić and Ratko Mladić,” says Džaferović.

He also points out that the verdict against Karadžić, like all previous ones, “is a strong message to all those who entertain plans to attack BiH and try to divide it.”

“Their projects will never succeed, and they will end up on the dark side of history and life imprisonment,” said Džaferović.

He also stated that trust cannot be built on denying verdicts and celebrating criminals.
