Džaferović and Aliyev Discuss Possibility of Supplying BiH with Gas from Azerbaijan

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović met with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The interlocutors emphasized that relations between the two countries are exceptionally good and friendly, with significant room for improvement in the fields of economic, energy and cultural cooperation.

Discussions were held on the project of the Adriatic-Ionian Gas Pipeline (IAP), which is planned to ensure direct supply of natural gas to Bosnia and Herzegovina from Azerbaijan, which is of exceptional importance given the growing challenges on the European market regarding gas supply.

President Aliyev expressed gratitude to BiH Presidency member Džaferović for the repeatedly confirmed support to the Azerbaijani authorities in their efforts to protect the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Džaferović congratulated the President of Azerbaijan on the signing of the peace agreement concerning the Karabakh region, and offered full support for the reintegration of the territory of Azerbaijan.

Discussions were held on the challenges faced by the Azerbaijani authorities regarding demining of the territory in the Karabakh region, and on the support that demining teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina can provide in this regard.

The President of Azerbaijan invited Bosnian companies to participate in infrastructure reconstruction projects in the Karabakh region.
