Džaferović: If the BiH Prosecutor's Office does not act, then the international community must dismiss those who are blocking the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament

(Patria) - The Head of the Bosniak Caucus in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament, Šefik Džaferović, stated that the current majority in that House consists of eight delegates, but that HDZ and SNSD prevented yesterday's session from being held by breaking the quorum.

"The best definition is that they fled the session. Their behavior is a consequence of the ineffective mandate of the international community, this calls for dismissal, of the inaction of BiH institutions, and it is a consequence through the relationship with the Troika. They are used to servility, to concessions so that things go their way. Now they have hit a wall in the House of Peoples, because a majority has been formed that has both a general and an entity majority and can make decisions. This can be stopped, but only by the intervention of the international community. BiH does not have its own mechanisms for determining responsibility," Džaferović said.

He stated that the Speaker of the House, Nikola Špirić, is abusing his official position.

"They are mocking the Parliament, the House of Peoples. The international community is part of the Dayton Peace Agreement and has not finished its job in BiH. It is not interventionism that BiH wants, but rather to prevent negative things. When the international community did its job, terms like federalization, secession, and open attacks on the constitutional order were not present in the public discourse. If the international community had an adequate role, if the Prosecutor's Office had an adequate reaction, this probably wouldn't be happening. I think they should help BiH build mechanisms for determining political responsibility, encourage the Prosecutor's Office to do its job. So that it is not put in a situation where it is tarnished, as is the case with the Milorad Dodik case. Until then, the international community should act against everyone who behaves in an anti-Dayton manner," Džaferović said on Špica TVSA.

He emphasized that a long period of blockade would ensue if they wait for the next elections, and that the work of the House must be unblocked and Nikola Špirić and Dragan Čović must be dismissed, for which there is a majority.

Speaking about the lifting of Milorad Dodik's detention, he said that there was some background to it, but he did not want to speculate.

"Serious attacks on the constitutional order, threats of force, and then suddenly he appears before the Court and his detention is lifted. Our judiciary must have credibility. It is not gained in this way. I used to do that job, and it must be explained to the people and answers must be given to these questions. And everyone must be equal before the law, the president, the worker, and the official," Džaferović said.
