Two thousand volunteers actively cleaning Maglaj

We managed to clean the main streets, unfortunately, garbage is a problem for us, because diligent citizens are throwing out everything that was destroyed from their homes, so we are constantly fighting to remove it from the city, said Mehmed Mustabašić, Mayor of the Municipality of Maglaj, for the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

- We have made temporary landfills, two excavators are working at the landfill to arrange it. It is progressing quite solidly – says Mustabašić, emphasizing that they have assistance from a Sarajevo company with 32 machines, while 12 arrived from Breza as support.

He pointed out that the Health Center is operational, and that many things should start working in the coming days. The food situation is much better, thanks to the constant aid arriving in Maglaj.

- We have visited almost every part of the municipality, we are distributing food to people, the kitchen from Prnjavor worked yesterday and prepared 10,000 hot meals. We have up to 2,000 volunteers here who need to eat. There is enough food, but it is all distributed quickly – says Mustabašić.

The situation with landslides in the Maglaj municipality is still worrying, especially in the Kosova settlement.

- We have engaged experts, we have removed a large amount of water. In about ten days, we will try with the Directorate for Roads to enable the so-called old road in order to make the M-17 road passable, at least with one lane – he emphasized.
