Duško Šnjegota succumbs to Dodik's pressure: Chief Auditor of RS resigns

Chief Auditor of Republika Srpska Duško Šnjegota and his deputy Darko Pejić have submitted their resignations, reports Patria agency.

- I ask that you inform the public of Republika Srpska about the fact that the chief auditor and deputy chief auditor today submitted their resignations to the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, i.e., placed their mandates at disposal for further action in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Audit of the Public Sector of Republika Srpska - it was announced from the Main Audit Service.

Two days ago, the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik announced that Šnjegota would be dismissed, which sparked strong reactions from the opposition in this entity.

Dragan Čavić, Vukota Govedarica and Branislav Borenović held emergency press conferences where they said they would defend Šnjegota with all their might, because, according to them, this institution remained the only one without excessive influence of Dodik's regime.

Šnjegota fell out of favor with Milorad Dodik and his SNSD after findings that the budget of Republika Srpska had a deficit of as much as 118 million KM more than what the government, i.e., the relevant ministry, had announced.

After Dodik's announcement of his dismissal, Šnjegota said he stands by the position he presented in the audit report.
