(Patria) - The National Assembly of Republika Srpska tonight dismissed Mirsad Duratović (SDP) from the position of Vice-President of this assembly from the Bosniak people.
Nina Bukejlović from SNSD was appointed in his place.
45 MPs voted for Duratović's dismissal, while 44 MPs supported Bukejlović's appointment to the new position.
According to opposition assessments, this dismissal represents direct retaliation by SNSD after the SDP previously called for the dismissal of SNSD officials from executive power at the state level.
Nina Bukejlović, who has identified as a Bosniak woman since 2018, was previously a candidate from the Serb representation.
She comes from the political circle of Doboj, and her stepfather is Obren Petrović, the most influential political figure in Doboj. Her mother Aida Prešić currently holds a position in the Council of Peoples of Republika Srpska.
Nina Bukejlović was married to former Minister of Justice of Republika Srpska Miloš Bukejlović, who is on the US blacklist.
This decision by the NSRS has caused strong reactions and further deepened tensions between the ruling majority and the opposition.
