Duraković accuses Dodik and Cvijanović: RS Government is blocking Srebrenica's development

Although in the first few days of the election campaign, the Government of Republika Srpska is making great efforts to present itself as one of the main investors in the development of the Municipality of Srebrenica, the facts on the ground are completely different, according to a statement signed by Mayor Ćamil Duraković, reports the Patria News Agency.

 

Since 2007, the RS Government has invested less than 2.7 million KM in Srebrenica, and this money was mainly intended for social purposes.

While absolutely appreciating this aid that came from Banja Luka to the most vulnerable categories of society, it is important to emphasize that in the case of the RS Government, it is social, not development aid. Therefore, the data on multi-million investments in Srebrenica's economy and agriculture is not true, or the Municipality of Srebrenica is not aware of how these funds were allocated.

Also, the amount of 43 million KM, which allegedly arrived in Srebrenica through the RS Development Fund, must be carefully analyzed, given that this money was not invested through the Municipality, and its flows are not transparent. One thing is certain: if 43 million had arrived in Srebrenica since 2007, we would probably be at a much higher level of development today. Before Milorad Dodik continues to accuse international donors of criminal activity, he should ask himself how his people spend budget money.

And if the RS Government truly wants to help Srebrenica and its citizens, let Željka Cvijanović finally complete the procedure for approving the rebalancing of the municipal budget at today's session. I would like to remind Ms. Cvijanović that the Municipal Assembly adopted the draft rebalancing with the suggestions of the competent ministry a month ago, and we have only been waiting for the "signature" since then.

Until we receive it, we cannot spend our funds that we received at the Investment-Development Conference. And after this one conference, several times more money has been paid into the Municipality's account than we have received from the RS Government in the last ten years.

I understand that the RS Government did not donate what it promised to Srebrenica at the same conference because it has to finance its populist moves like the referendum and raise national tensions before the elections, but the citizens of Srebrenica should not suffer because of the SNSD's election campaign. That is why I call on Željka Cvijanović to finally put our Municipality on the agenda, Duraković states.
