Duraković: The international community has a political and moral obligation to BiH

(Patria) - Academician Esad Duraković, appearing on TV SA, stated that BiH must defend itself with cosmopolitanism and tolerance, and that another Bužim should never dawn again.

"To gain friends in the world, we don't do much about it, and others do," said Duraković.

Speaking about plans aimed at establishing a Greater Serbia and Croatia's desire for a part of BiH's territory, he pointed out that Herceg-Bosna still practically exists, and the problem is that Muslims are the majority population in BiH.

"There are a million Muslims living in Europe, but here Muslims are a state-building political factor. They can be a minority in Hungary or France, but here we are a state-building nation. Orban also said this in a very ugly, fascist way, about how to integrate two million Muslims. That is the problem," Duraković emphasized.

The academician has sent open letters to high-ranking officials in the international community on several occasions, warning that BiH is heading for an abyss. He pointed out that no one responded, and he expected a response from the High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt.

"I didn't address him so that he would invite me, but for the public, but he never reacted. I wrote about dramatic and shocking facts. In 1992, they imposed an arms embargo on us, and we were the victims. When you prevent the victim from defending themselves, it's a huge problem. When we were close to victory over the JNA, they threatened us: 'Don't go further, or NATO will bomb you.' Then they awarded the territory on which genocide was committed to those who committed it.

The international community consistently behaves unfairly, and I believe they have a political and moral obligation to BiH," stated Duraković, emphasizing that they have the instruments to stop Dodik and Čović and preserve this country.

"I expected someone to react, and no one did," added Duraković.

Academician Duraković said he also wrote to Gabriel Escobar and has certain signals that the letter is in his office and that he might react.

Speaking about next year's elections, academician Duraković said that 'Bosnia is a miracle'.

"We have had a government blockade for a long time, the HDZ is blocking the implementation of elections at the Federation level, we have a blockade of state institutions, yet we have survived. I think elections will happen, and even if they don't, BiH will survive," said Duraković.

He stressed that we must change the government, but not without elections.

"I think there will be elections. We have the existing law, and elections can be held," stated Duraković.

In the conversation on Polis, he also spoke about how politics governs the judiciary in BiH.

"There have been many prime ministers in the Federation against whom there were charges, but I don't know if any of them ever concluded. It starts, and then everything is hushed up. People would be encouraged if the judiciary were effective and responsible. It would discourage these mafiosi and organized crime," added Duraković.

Bosnia and Herzegovina needs fundamental changes, and Duraković believes that BiH is still waiting.

"We are sinking deeper and deeper into crisis, but allow me to give an example. Such an autocratic and despotic government in Serbia experienced the people waking up. That is why I appeal to citizens, intellectuals, to wake up, to write, to appear on television, to do everything in our power. When that will happen, I don't know, but we are also a patient people," added Duraković.
