Duraković: The Activities of Invisible Angels

Gaza is the largest children's graveyard of the modern world. Zionists kill randomly, indiscriminately – devoted to evil and crime with passion – civilians, half of whom are children killed: more than seven thousand in the last two months. The "civilized" Western world watches all this. And supports it. They have no compassion because the children are Muslim.

Based on past experiences of the world's criminal impulses, we had arrived at a "term" that encompasses all of man's villainous nature, called fascism and Nazism. Now, that "term" is proving inadequate and should be replaced by the term Zionism, as it surpasses all previous evils.

During this massacre of children, something miraculous is happening in my experience.

The novel by Palestinian writer Djebra (in my translation) has just been published, and today I am gifting a copy to my friend, a renowned Bosnian conductor. That same afternoon, my friend sends me photos of his two-year-old granddaughter Hana, who is holding the Palestinian writer's novel and swinging with it.

And so it went all afternoon. He writes to me – in wonder – how his granddaughter ran to him as he was at the door and took the book from him, saying: Grandpa, this is my book! She hasn't let go of the book since.

This is a sketch of a miraculous universe: a two-year-old girl from Sarajevo holding her Palestinian writer's book – at a time when Palestinian children are dying, in blood, dismembered, under the rubble...
