Dunović: By announcing the celebration of an unconstitutional date, Dodik publicly announces the destruction of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina

(Patria) - Milan Dunović, Vice President of the Federation of BiH, issued a statement as a wake-up call for Bosnians and Herzegovinians.

"Bosnia and Herzegovina is in the greatest post-war political crisis. Individuals are rattling weapons and trying to tell us that we do not know how to live together. Although citizens are living increasingly difficult lives, nationalist themes, themes of division, fear, and overemphasis of every possible difference and exclusivity are resurfacing. Milorad Dodik, who has usurped the position of a member of the Presidency of BiH, which he does not respect and for which he increasingly and publicly states he does not like, is announcing a 'spectacular celebration of January 9th.' 

By announcing the celebration of an unconstitutional date, he is actually publicly announcing the destruction of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Not wanting to further elaborate on the negative consequences of marking this date, considering that every Bosnian and Herzegovinian, as well as well-meaning people from the neighborhood, is fully aware of everything related to this date, I call on the media not to broadcast a single sentence, a single recording, or any information whatsoever, related to the shameful marking of the unconstitutional date.

I call on the media to decide whether they will understand this call of mine as a wake-up call for Bosnian-Herzegovinian consciousness or whether, after all, what Dodik has to say is more important to them, thereby giving him importance once again.

As a Serb, who loves Bosnia and Herzegovina and who has subordinated his political career to improving the lives of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I ask you - is this call important to you and what will you do about it? And no, this is not interference in anyone's editorial policy; this is a plea, an appeal to help the citizens of this suffering country in the fight against all destructive factors and promoters of the bloody policies of the nineties. The media is a powerful democratic weapon and can help in the fight against increasingly strong attacks on the constitutional order of the state. Please, never forget that." states Dunović's statement.
