Dunović receives special recognition from the Bar Association of FBiH

The Bar Association of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AKFBiH) awarded a special recognition to the Vice President of the Federation of BiH, Milan Dunović - a recognition for the exceptional development and advancement of the legal profession and its fight for the protection of constitutional principles and laws in order to protect the individual and collective interests of BiH citizens and respect for human rights, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

The recognition was presented to Vice President Dunović today in Bihać by Branko Marić, President of AKFBiH, at the formal part of the celebration marking the "Day of the Bar of FBiH". One of the reasons for awarding this recognition is the Request for assessment of the constitutionality of the law on notaries, which was initiated in 2010, and for which the Constitutional Court of FBiH made a final decision that it was unconstitutional in certain points.

- I am pleased that the Bar Association of FBiH has recognized my work in terms of protecting human rights and constitutionality. I considered it my obligation and constitutional competence to leave it to the Constitutional Court, as the sole authorized interpreter of the Constitution of FBiH, to make the final decision. Lawyers play a significant role in the legal order of every state and are one of the pillars of the judicial system. In addition to the obligation to defend those who are legally vulnerable, they also have a moral obligation to build a better legal system of the state through their principled work. For this reason, I am grateful to them for the contribution they make to building legal certainty in the Federation of BiH, and thus in the whole of BiH - Dunović stated after receiving the recognition.

During his two-day visit to the Una-Sana Canton, the Vice President also met with the Prime Minister of USK, Husein Rošić, and representatives of parliamentary parties. He inquired about the current situation in this canton after the appointment of the new executive government two months ago.

- We all talk about a minority government, but no one has heard that it functions. The Una-Sana Canton has this positive example. We see that the parliamentary majority can support a minority government and that things can be moved forward. What was presented to me, and what I have seen myself before, is that here, in a short period of about 60 days, quite a lot has been improved. This is proof that in BiH, regardless of the party affiliations of people in the legislative power, a step forward can always be made if there is a desire to work in the interest of the citizens. The example of USK is something from which everyone else should learn - Vice President Dunović said.
