Đukanović: With traditional coalition partners we have 40 seats

(Patria) - Leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists and President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, said that with traditional coalition partners they have won a total of 40 seats.

"Over 90 percent of the results have been counted, and DPS won around 145,000 votes and 30 seats in the elections. Such a result means that DPS is the strongest party in Montenegro. Results are still coming in, and it is difficult to say what is reliable information. With coalition partners we have 40 seats, the fight for a majority of parliamentary seats continues. This is an opportunity, in addition to thanking you and the citizens who have given their trust to our party, to give my support to everyone. The campaign speaks to the quality of the policy that DPS leads in Montenegro," said Đukanović.

He added that they will wait for the final results of the State Election Commission and that "what is definitively established for DPS is the law which we will unconditionally respect."

"Throughout its entire existence on the political scene, DPS has built a profile of a civic party, fighting for a multi-ethnic society and a European system of values. We believe that in previous years we have made progress, that Montenegro has become a beacon in the Western Balkans, and I hope it will remain so and that Montenegro will remain a stable country."

DPS candidate for MP, Nela Savković Vukčević, earlier said that based on 60 percent of processed ballots, she can say that DPS won 37.8 percent and that with traditional partners they can declare victory.

"The opposition, as always, is rushing with results," said Savković Vukčević.

The DPS headquarters decided that Savković would address all media individually, even though all journalists were in the same room.

Savković called on citizens to patiently wait for the results at home and that she is certain that DPS will lead them for the next 4 years.

"The turnout percentage was expected, and it seems to me that in the end it was around 76%. We prepared for that turnout and we expect victory." This was said in the first address to the public by Miloš Nikolić, DPS spokesperson for RTCG.

In the lobby of the building around 8:30 PM, no DPS officials could be seen, and half an hour after the polling stations closed, there were no supporters of that party in front of the DPS election headquarters.

Nikolić said that whoever wins the elections should congratulate and that he believes it will be DPS.

He announced the first results from the election headquarters of the coalition "Decisively for Montenegro DPS - Milo Đukanović" around 9 PM.

Nikolić said they want to announce verified results.

Half an hour after the polling stations closed, there were no supporters of that party in front of the DPS election headquarters.
