Đukanović expects new government of Montenegro as early as beginning of next year

(Patria) - President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović believes that a new Montenegrin government should be expected as early as the beginning of next year.

He said that public opinion research shows that support for the Montenegrin government, led by Zdravko Krivokapić, is at an all-time low and that it has "used up its time".

Đukanović assessed that this government is "harming the national interests" of Montenegro and that it should be replaced.

He emphasized that he continues to work with political partners on the removal of the government and that these partners have not changed their minds regarding the decision, but have only postponed it until a certain date, while they agree on moves with their part of the public.

Đukanović, who is the leader of the DPS, pointed out that the DPS was and will remain a pillar of stability in Montenegro.

He told "Antena M" that the concept of a minority government is welcome in the DPS, that the party is ready to support it, but that it is not the optimal solution, and that early parliamentary elections are currently what Montenegro needs most.

Đukanović stated that the memorandum of cooperation, signed by four minority parties, SNP, URA and CIVIS, is a step in the right direction. He believes, however, that there should have been room at the table for two more minority parties, HGI and DUA, as well as SDP and SD.

Regarding the statement of Ilir Hasanaj from the GP URA that work is being done on forming a minority government, which should be supported by the DPS, but on the condition that the party does not participate in power and that Đukanović steps down, the Montenegrin president said that no one from the international political scene has even tried to talk to him about it.
