Dugalija takes over as acting Chief Prosecutor of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office: Zero tolerance for any influence on work independence

(Patria) - Meliha Dugalija is the new acting Chief Prosecutor of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office.

Her welcome message was published on the Prosecutor's Office website.

"The Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton is the largest prosecutor's office in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and as such should perform its social role and function, which is to discover and prosecute perpetrators of criminal offenses with the aim of ensuring the rule of law, equality before the law, and the safety of the citizens of Sarajevo Canton. My mission is that the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office, through its proactive work, correctly set strategic goals, and zero tolerance for any form of influence on the independence of the prosecutor's office's work by any individuals or interest groups, shows the public that they can and should have confidence in our work. At the same time, we are brave enough to tackle the most serious and complex forms of crime within our jurisdiction. The satisfaction of justice is our primary mission.

Through my work, I will strive to ensure that the citizens of Sarajevo Canton and those who have been victims of criminal offenses have reasons to trust the work of this prosecutor's office, that they feel it is 'their' prosecutor's office and that access to justice does not depend on their social status.

Also, I want to emphasize the importance of open communication with the media and the public. Transparency is key to building trust and understanding of our work. I am convinced that together we will succeed in achieving our goals and contributing to building a more just society," stated Dugalija.
