Bosnia and Herzegovina band "Dubioza kolektiv" said in an interview for ibabih.com that they find inspiration for their songs in the crazy everyday life, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.
- Our crazy everyday life truly offers so many topics and materials that can inspire a person to their heart's content. We would like there to be as little inspiration for our songs in the future. We long for that boring everyday life, where everything is fine and by the book, so that we can, like normal people, write love songs.
Ibabih.com: Dubioza kolektiv has a notable internet campaign. You are among the few who listen to the "voice" of fans via social networks. I am interested in your opinion on how much the internet, i.e., social networks, has managed to bring music closer to people?
DK: The internet as a platform, in our opinion, is ideal for communication with people who want to hear what we do. We do not want to use the internet for campaigns, because it gives us the opportunity to communicate directly with people whom we in no case want to call “fans”. That word has a degrading definition because it puts people in some kind of pen. The situation is much broader if you communicate equally with every person. We receive a large number of messages daily, which are positive, but sometimes negative, and we try through that type of communication to build upon the stories we talk about in our songs.
Ibabih.com: What do you think, how exposed are young people to kitsch and can one fight against kitsch and hyperproduction?
DK: Thanks to the abnormal media cacophony, people are exposed to an incredible amount of nonsense that is served up in the absence of quality materials, the production of which requires knowledge and money. It is probably much easier for the media to produce various talent competitions. On the other hand, no one is forced to participate in that audio-visual circus. On the internet, there really is so much quality content for every taste, so we wouldn't put all the blame on the media. The media broadcast what the people like to watch, politicians say what the people like to hear.
Ibabih.com: Stay here or try to go somewhere abroad? What is your opinion on the departure of young people from these areas?
DK: The best would be to stay here, but to secure some pension from Switzerland. That combination would be the best for both young and old.
Ibabih.com: Is there a plan to release a new album? Where can we currently see you?
DK: The new album, which is intended for the foreign market, will be released in September. Until then, a very busy summer festival schedule awaits us. We will mostly play in Europe, while there will be only a few concerts in the region.
Ibabih.com: How do you comment on the fact that young people are increasingly distant from sports, education, social activities, and are increasingly giving in to vices, drugs, and alcohol?
DK: We think that the recent campaign ”drugs against sports” has really given excellent results and we call on all relevant ministries to invest additional funds.
In conclusion, the guys from Dubioza kolektiv tell young people to try to grow old as late as possible.
