Dubai: Plane explodes on runway, among 300 rescued passengers is one BiH citizen

An Emirates Boeing 777, carrying one Croatian and one BiH citizen from Trivandrum, India to Dubai on Wednesday, disappeared in thick black smoke shortly after an emergency landing in Dubai, world agencies report, Patria reports.

Fortunately, all 300 passengers and crew members were evacuated on time, and witnesses state that the plane was followed by a trail of smoke even before it touched the ground.

Foreign media report that passengers were told before landing that the plane had a problem with the landing gear, i.e. the wheels, while there is no official confirmation whether it is true that the right engine caught fire while still in the air.

Be that as it may, photos and videos on social media revealed that the plane was dragging its right wing on the runway, and that an explosion occurred shortly thereafter.

The majority of passengers were from India, 226, while there were 24 British citizens, 11 from the United Arab Emirates, six each from the USA and Saudi Arabia, five from Turkey...
