State deputies tomorrow on proposals for laws on HJPC and Court of BiH

(Patria) - The House of Representatives of the Parliament of BiH will consider at tomorrow's emergency session proposals for two laws whose adoption represents one of the conditions for opening BiH's negotiations with the EU.

These are the Proposal of the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of BiH and the Proposal of the Law on Amendments to the Law on the Court of BiH.

Both of these laws were proposed by the same five opposition deputies from the RS - Darko Babalj, Branislav Borenović, Mira Pekić, Nenad Grković and Mladen Bosić.

The mentioned legal solutions should be considered in the first reading and under an abbreviated procedure.

The House of Representatives at its last session rejected the proposers' request for these legislative proposals to be considered under an urgent procedure, i.e., without the possibility of filing amendments.

The proposers claim they have prepared a comprehensive Proposal of the Law on the HJPC of BiH that "resolves all issues in accordance with the recommendations previously established by the Venice Commission, the Pribe report, Greco recommendations and reports on BiH."

In the explanation of the Proposal of the Law on Amendments to the Law on the Court of BiH, they cited the need for urgent harmonization of domestic legislation with the EU acquis and relevant European standards in the area of independence, efficiency and functionality of the judiciary.

Tomorrow's emergency session of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of BiH is scheduled to begin at 12:00.
