Accusing Others of Parallelism: Ivanić Behind Izetbegović and Čović's Back Sent Letters to The Hague

A barrage of criticism and accusations against the member of the BiH Presidency Bakir Izetbegović could be heard at today's session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka, writes Patria.

The most frequently used word was “parallelism”, and the destruction of the state, and the harshest critic of Izetbegović was his colleague Mladen Ivanić, the current Chairman of the BiH Presidency.

Ivanić said that in June 2015, he learned that Bakir Izetbegović had undertaken activities to initiate a revision in the case of Bosnia and Herzegovina against Serbia, which is why in early 2016 he sent a letter to the International Court of Justice insisting that any submission of a request without a decision by the Presidency was legally unfounded and an abuse of BiH institutions.

So who started with parallelism first? Ivanić revealed himself today from the parliamentary podium, that behind the backs of both Izetbegović and Dragan Čović, he sent letters to The Hague a year ago. These letters only came to light after he began emphasizing the deadline for submitting the request for a revision of the judgment.

Besides being the first to start with parallelism in the work of the BiH Presidency, Mladen Ivanić today also threatened to break up the diplomatic network in BiH. He announced that this would happen if Izetbegović does not withdraw the order issued to the BiH ambassador in The Hague, Mirsada Čolaković.

What about his order to the same ambassador that she must not open letters but must deliver them sealed to the members of the BiH Presidency? Is that not also an order from just one member of the collective head of state and parallelism, which Ivanić constantly talks about?

The first step towards breaking up the DKP network will, by all accounts, be his decision that the head of BiH diplomacy, Igor Crnadak, personally go to The Hague and hand over Ivanić's new letter at the International Court of Justice.

Such a move, if Crnadak indeed goes to the Court, will be a first-class diplomatic scandal, because it is precisely known who can communicate with international organizations and institutions and how. In this specific case, all correspondence is conducted exclusively through the BiH ambassador in The Hague, Mirsada Čolaković.

What is happening is a classic switching of arguments, where Ivanić is trying to palm off a cuckoo's egg on Izetbegović, that is, to accuse Bosniak politicians of allegedly destroying the Dayton Agreement and the state of BiH.

If the fact that the state of BiH is using its right and opportunity to submit a request for a revision of the judgment in the case of BiH against Serbia is supposedly parallelism, then how, viewed through Ivanić's prism, is what he did on January 9 defined, when he on his own lined up members of the BiH Armed Forces at the celebration of the unconstitutional holiday of RS Day? Or before that, when he came out to vote in an unconstitutional referendum and called on citizens in the RS to do the same. By his standards, that is institutional action.
