SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The second day of Eid al-Fitr in Bosnia and Herzegovina is marked as 'Martyrs' Day'. Cemeteries are visited to remember those who lost their lives during the defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the armed aggression against the country from 1992 to 1995.
According to Islamic belief, martyrs are Muslim believers who die defending their property, faith, life, land, and family.
Martyrs' Day in BiH was established by a decision of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community in BiH on January 23, 1995.
The observance of Martyrs' Day, organized by the Office of the Military Mufti of the Islamic Community in BiH at the Martyrs' Memorial Cemetery in Kovači, Sarajevo, begins on Saturday at 11:00 AM.
The central event for the area of the Tuzla Muftiship will be held at the Martyrs' Cemetery Rakita in Vlasenica.
The cultural-religious event "Days of Hasan Kaimija" will be held in Zvornik, where the Martyrs' Prayer will be recited at the plateau of the Mahmutovići turbe, reports the Patria agency.
