Drašković: Dodik's partnership with Čović will backfire

Leader of the Serbian Renewal Movement Vuk Drašković said in the show Puls on BN Television that there is no stable Bosnia and Herzegovina without a strategic alliance between Serbs and Bosniaks, and that the partnership of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik with the leader of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović could backfire on both Dodik and Republika Srpska, reports the Patria news agency.

“I once said that will backfire on him. Because Serbs and Bosniaks are the two leading peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Any alliance that disrupts their lasting reconciliation and lasting cooperation is not long-lasting. I repeat, there is no stable Bosnia and Herzegovina and no future without a strategic alliance between Serbs and Bosniaks,” Drašković claims.

Drašković believes that the time of isolation in these areas is over and that the entire region must be part of its natural environment of Europe and Euro-Atlantic structures.

“I remember a statement from two years ago by Mr. Dodik, during a conversation with some American representative, when he said, 'If I am the one speaking on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina, give me the pen to immediately sign the accession to the NATO alliance.' The heart no longer decides. You cannot be hostile to NATO while all around you are NATO members,” says Drašković.

Serbia needs to do several key things in order to turn to a new policy, Drašković believes, and above all to face the past.

“We must admit the national defeat, caused by the regime from 1990 to 2000, admit the crimes committed by Serbian hands, without silencing them, downplaying them, or even worse, without justifying our crimes by the crimes of others against us. That means we lack people of Willy Brandt's caliber,” says the leader of the SPO.
