Drama on Zlatibor: 20 tourists stranded in snow

In the village of Ljubiš, on Zlatibor, 20 tourists from Belgrade, Leskovac and Germany were stranded in the snow, said today Milovan Milojević, a member of the Local Community Council in that village. Milojević said that "some of them came to that area for the first time and now it is a question whether they will ever come again", reports the news agency Patria.

-That is the Ljubiš - Straža road section of 3.8 kilometres. It is not being cleared, it has been placed in the third priority under which, they say, it can have 10 centimetres of packed snow and not be gritted, which is at the very least interesting, added Milojević.

According to his words, the road is unsafe, has no guardrails, and the curves are narrow.

-No one has taken into account our requests to determine whether the road was even built according to the project. Communal services from Nova Varoš are clearing from Jasenovo to Straža, and those from Užice from Bela zemlja to Straža. Those from Užice cannot break through uphill, and those from Varoš cannot descend those additional 3,800 metres, he emphasised.

That part of Zlatibor has about 300 inhabitants and a school minibus for the knowledge centre in Ljubiš uses that road. Milojević concluded that, at the moment, that section is difficult to pass and that there is a lot of snow there, Serbian media report.
