DRAMA ON VISOČICA - GSS Sarajevo rescues four younger foreign nationals, lost in unpredictable BH mountain!

(Patria) -Members of the Mountain Rescue Service Station Sarajevo received a call from four foreign nationals who are lost on Mount Visočica.

Four younger persons, foreign nationals, yesterday (Saturday), prompted by the nice weather, set out for hiking in the Bosnian mountains. Given the nice weather, they set off insufficiently prepared for winter conditions, unaware of the temperament of the mountains of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Sometime in the afternoon, a storm caught them and they lost their orientation. Late in the evening, when snow began to fall, they managed to find shelter on the mountain and spent the night there. In the morning, they tried to find the path, but without success, and due to the difficult weather conditions, one of the lost individuals began to feel health issues, so they decided to return to the last known point, i.e., the bivouac where they had spent the night.

After returning to the bivouac, they realized that, given the health condition of one of them and that they themselves were unable to find the way back to safety, they should call the Mountain Rescue Service.

Station Sarajevo immediately activated the Duty Team and launched a rescue operation to evacuate the injured.

The rescuers moved towards the bivouac on foot and with the help of motorized sleds because the roads are snowed in and access by other vehicles is not possible, and they successfully reached the injured.

After assessing the health condition of the injured, the method and type of evacuation will be decided. The Operational Center of the Cantonal Civil Protection has been informed about the course of the operation.
