Dragan Đilas founded the Party of Freedom and Justice

BELGRADE, (Patria) - The Party of Freedom and Justice was founded on Friday in Belgrade, and one of the founders of the opposition Alliance for Serbia and former Belgrade mayor Dragan Đilas was elected its leader.

As decided at the founding assembly, the party's vice-presidents are independent MP Marinika Tepić, Dejan Bulatović, and Borko Stefanović, who will also be the deputy president. The party's presidency also includes the mayor of Stari Grad municipality, Marko Bastać.

Đilas told reporters after the electoral assembly that the party's focus would be on economic development and education, and regarding the solution to the Kosovo issue, they would advocate for a declaration of reconciliation to be adopted by both assemblies and for an agreement between the Serbian and Kosovo police on cooperation to prevent crime in Kosovo.

Đilas said that Serbia and the Serbian people should be part of the family of European nations and that his party would strive to provide the citizens of Serbia with the same quality of life as in EU countries.

He said that the party "does not shy away from any problem and that Kosovo belongs to both the Serbian and Albanian people and that the authorities in Belgrade and Pristina feed each other".

"Reconciliation of the two peoples is the solution, not territorial demarcation," said Đilas, adding that it is necessary to enable freedom of movement, economic cooperation, as well as cooperation in healthcare, education, culture, sports, and the fight against crime.
