Dragan Čović and Nermin Nikšić visited BHRT

(Patria) - Dragan Čović, member of the Collegium of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament and President of the Croatian Democratic Union of BiH, and Nermin Nikšić, Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH and President of the Social Democratic Party of BiH, paid an official visit to Radio Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina today.

After touring the program-production facilities of the public media service of BiH, the discussion with members of the Steering Committee and management of BHRT focused on the steps to be taken to fulfill the 12th of the 14 conditions for Bosnia and Herzegovina's accession to the European Union by establishing a self-sustaining, professional, and independent public broadcasting system.

Čović and Nikšić gave their full support to the efforts to adequately fulfill this condition by supporting the idea of forming an expert working group that would propose concrete amendments to the existing Law on the Public Broadcasting System of BiH within the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Council of Ministers of BiH.

They emphasized, among other things, that BHRT, as the public service at the state level, as a full member of the European Broadcasting Union, should be provided with the necessary conditions to fulfill its obligations in accordance with the rules of that organization.
