Dragan Čović and Filip Vujanović hold meeting in Tivat

Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Čović met with President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović. Topics of discussion were bilateral relations between the two countries and regional circumstances and cooperation, reports the Patria agency.

The possibility of expanding cooperation between the two countries through more active implementation of projects of common interest in the areas of communications, development of the electric power sector, and transport and traffic infrastructure was considered.

The great potential for strengthening mutual cooperation through participation in the IPA cross-border cooperation program, exchange of experiences in harmonizing regulations and using funds from EU pre-accession funds was also highlighted, to which the conclusion of an interstate agreement on cooperation in the field of European integration will contribute in a special way.

Cooperation with neighbors, continuously and with the aim of deepening good neighborly relations, was emphasized as a common strategic priority of both countries in foreign policy.

In this regard, the signing of the Border Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro in Vienna on August 26 on the margins of the conference of Western Balkan countries was also announced.

This agreement was assessed as extremely significant, because it shows that in the spirit of openness and friendship, it is possible to resolve even difficult bilateral issues in the Western Balkans.

Both countries confirmed their commitment to improving regional cooperation, especially within the framework of the Berlin Process and the EU connectivity agenda, which, among other things, provide the opportunity to implement development projects of the highest importance for the Western Balkan countries.

The compatibility of priority projects in both countries and the commitment to mutual cooperation and support within international and regional associations and initiatives were highlighted, as well as cooperation on a broader international level, which is confirmed by the readiness for joint use of diplomatic and consular infrastructure.

The intensification of cooperation on the project of the Ionian-Adriatic Gas Pipeline (IAP) and the signing of a joint declaration at the ministerial level on intensifying cooperation on that project were assessed as particularly significant.

In the segment of development of transport and traffic infrastructure, the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding between Albania, BiH, Croatia and Montenegro regarding support and cooperation in the implementation of the Adriatic-Ionian Highway was welcomed.
