Dr. Ramadan: Faith that comes from doubt we have overcome is deeper and stronger!

Faith that comes from doubt we have mastered and faced is deeper and stronger, says Dr. Tarik Ramadan in a new installment of Ramadan Chronicles, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP). He once again recalled the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), stating that while seeking truth and answers to life's questions, he received an answer from Allah: "Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah!"

Thus, the beginning of his twenty-three-year mission of delivering Allah's word to people was heralded. However, Dr. Ramadan recalled an event from the life of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) immediately after the first revelation, which holds a great lesson for all believers.

- Not long after the first revelations, there was a sudden interruption. There are opinions that this interruption lasted six months or even two and a half years. As confident as he was about being chosen to deliver the revelation, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) suddenly felt lost. Some hadiths mention his difficult state, that he even wanted to kill himself, because due to the interruption, he felt he was not up to the great task, that he had greatly sinned – states Dr. Ramadan.

Interpreting the pause in revelation in this way, Dr. Ramadan points out, the Prophet doubted himself.

- But every time he found himself in such a difficult state, Allah would address him and confirm that he was indeed a Prophet and protect him from himself. However, before that confirmation, the Prophet (pbuh) would always go through the experience of self-doubt. This doubt is very important because it helped him to strive, to confront and fight with himself – states Dr. Ramadan.

Every such struggle, the feeling that we desperately need God, the feeling that we cannot do much on our own, but with Him everything is possible, is the core and foundation of our faith, says this esteemed professor.

- That experience is sometimes very painful and difficult, but in the end, it is an experience that will make us stronger. It is necessary to confront doubt in order to better understand ourselves and our faith. Faith that comes from doubt we have mastered and faced is deeper and stronger.
