Dr. Ramadan: We went through the school of our faith, now we show through life what we have learned

Ramadan was a school, and after it we show whether we have learned the lessons about the essence of our faith, says Dr. Tarik Ramadan in this year's last Ramadan Chronicle, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

- We have reached the end of Ramadan. We tried to understand the essence and core of our faith. We saw that it is a path that has many dimensions, that it has spirituality, love, but also rules and beauty as a framework. We saw through examples from the life of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that he had and carried all these dimensions of faith - says Dr. Ramadan.

The Prophet (pbuh), he says, left his native Mecca with his head held high, in order to protect his friends and the few Muslims from persecution, but he returned to Mecca after 23 years.

- He left directly from Mecca and returned riding a horse. There was no revenge, no bitterness. He returned to spread justice and forgiveness. The first thing he told the Meccans, the people who had persecuted him for years, was that they were free and that there was no fear of Islam. Because Islam is not pressure, it is not imposition, but justice, principles, deep faith and love. That is what Muhammad (pbuh) showed through his life - states Dr. Ramadan.

Just as the Prophet (pbuh) returned to the beginning, to his Mecca, full of forgiveness and understanding, so, as Dr. Ramadan points out, we return to the beginning after Ramadan, to our usual lives. The key question is what we will return to.

- Ramadan is leaving and we are returning to our lives. Will we return to a superficial and forgetful life, leaving behind what we have learned and the awareness we have experienced. That is up to us. Will we return to ourselves and take care of our lives and the lives of the people around us. Will we resist injustice and pressure and show that we follow the Prophet (pbuh). Ramadan teaches us the answer to that question - he points out.

According to him, life is a journey, and Ramadan is a school. Change must start with us, and then we must spread it to others.

- Let's return to the essence of our faith, we will serve humanity as a good example. And finally, never, but never forget to tell those you love that you love them - concludes Dr. Ramadan.
