Dr. Ramadan: We will not find a solution until we truly face the problems

Ramadan is a time for meditation and reflection, it teaches us that we must face problems and find solutions, states Dr. Tarik Ramadan in his new installment of Ramadan Chronicles, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP). According to him, this is the method that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) also used to find answers to key life questions.

- Studying the life of the Prophet (pbuh) it is very important to recall the events before his prophethood, i.e., the revelation, because everything he had before that later served as instruments with which he achieved the goals of his mission – states Dr. Ramadan.

As we have seen, the Prophet (pbuh), according to Dr. Ramadan, was extremely respected by other people. He was known by the nicknames the truthful, the trustworthy, he possessed morality and humanity, but he was not happy with the faith that his contemporaries professed nor with the culture in which they lived.

- They worshipped idols, which could not calm the Prophet (pbuh) or satisfy his soul. And then Muhammad (pbuh) did two things. First, he confronted what he did not like. He showed that he did not like the way people found answers, that he did not like worshipping idols, he felt that there was something wrong with it and openly said, "I must find a solution" – states Dr. Ramadan.

Then, as he says, Muhammad (pbuh) decided to isolate himself to hear himself, to take care of himself. So, the problem, concludes Dr. Ramadan, was taken seriously and an attempt was made to find a solution by isolating himself from people and retreating to the cave of Hira. And he received an answer from God: "Peace be upon you, O Prophet!"

- From this, for us who are fasting, something very important arises: we must look the problems we have in life in the eye, we must face them and find a solution. Ramadan is precisely the time for meditation and reflection, for finding solutions and setting priorities in their rightful place. This is what the Prophet (pbuh) did and received an answer, and this is what we should do. We are believers and we must seek answers that will come if we take care of ourselves – he says, concluding his eighth Ramadan Chronicle with the words: And do not forget to tell those you love that you love them!
