Fasting is a testimony that there is only one God to whom we should be close, and we will achieve this through a righteous way of life, stated Dr. Tarik Ramadan in the second part of his Ramadan Chronicles, reports the BH News Agency Patria (NAP).
In his new message, he discusses how fasting affects the entire life of a believer.
- Yesterday, we spoke about the connection between Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and Abraham (pbuh). We saw that through fasting, we follow their path and the tradition of the Righteous Caliphs – those who have borne witness and acknowledge the existence of only one God – states Dr. Ramadan.
According to him, it is important to emphasize and clarify who it is that follows their path and how they should follow it.
- In the Quran, Allah (swt) addresses Abraham (pbuh) and says, "Indeed, I have made you a leader of the people." Abraham (pbuh) responds with the question, "And of my descendants?" The answer was, "My covenant does not extend to the wrongdoers." From this, we see that following Abraham (pbuh) and Muhammad (pbuh) is, first and foremost, bearing witness and believing that there is no god but Allah. But immediately after that is giving your all in that faith, in that surrender, in that Islam – explains Dr. Ramadan.
As he states, in his Ramadan Chronicle, Islam means entering into "peace and submission."
- It is entering into Allah's peace with all our hearts and bodies, while staying far from any injustice and insincerity. Following the Prophet (pbuh) is not just fasting but also bearing witness that there is only one God, to whom we should be close, and we will be close to Him through our conduct and way of life. The Quran states, "And who is better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah while being a doer of good and follows the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth?" – emphasizes Dr. Ramadan.
He explains that we need to understand the three steps through which fasting reminds us – first, the acknowledgment of one God, then entering into Allah's peace and submission to Him, which we ultimately demonstrate through our way of life and conduct.
- We must remember this while fasting, because fasting itself is a good deed, but we must also promote this recipe through our daily lives, God willing – states Dr. Ramadan, and as always, he concludes his message with the words, "never forget to tell those you love that you love them!"

Dr. Ramadan, a professor at Oxford University, Swiss by birth, has become one of the most renowned and beloved scholars in the world due to his progressive views and deep understanding of Islam. Dr. Ramadan sends his Ramadan messages through short video clips in which he offers simple, understandable, and practical advice to believers.
