Dr. Mačkić: I call on Konaković to do everything to save our General Hospital

Doctor Denis Mačkić today addressed the citizens of Sarajevo who have been coming to the General Hospital Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš for days to express their dissatisfaction with the plans to merge this hospital with UKCS and eventually close it down. The citizens handed him letters of support, for which he thanked everyone for their support, writes the BH news agency Patria.

Mačkić told the citizens that the General Hospital is operating as usual.

- I call on the institutions to act legally, because only when the FBiH Government and the KS Assembly say that this hospital is being merged can we discuss it. This way of operating is not known even in African countries, and with all of this, the voice of the people should also be heard. This hospital survived the Ottoman Empire, the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the SFRY, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and it is a symbol of the city and the resistance of all of us. I call on Prime Minister Konaković, whom I know personally, to do everything in his power to save the hospital. My two children were born here, and I thank all citizens for their support - said Mačkić, to applause.

The citizens stated that if necessary, they will defend their hospital with their bodies.

A group of citizens, organized through social networks, has introduced shifts since Monday, January 11, from 11 AM to 1 PM and from 4 PM to 6 PM. Citizens are coming to sign a petition, write letters of support, and thus show their support for the employees.
