Dr. Izetbegović boasts about shortened waiting lists, patient from Vitez scheduled for examination in 2017

The Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS) owes around 100 million marks and of course things have improved, but you cannot fix in a few months something that has been deteriorating for years, is a sentence that KCUS director Sebija Izetbegović often utters in front of cameras, Patria writes.

However, this debt did not arise yesterday, and Dr. Izetbegović does not clarify what she did from 2010, when she was a member of the KCUS Management Board, to improve the situation or prevent the accumulation of debts. Of course, Dr. Izetbegović does not answer that question, because she usually gives interviews to TV stations where such questions are not asked, and she does not respond to other journalistic inquiries at all, which is why, as Patria learns, some media outlets have already written to the media and human rights ombudsmen, and the case has already been opened.

However, in her media appearances, Dr. Izetbegović talks about what suits her without clarifying the numerous problems that significantly affect patients and KCUS employees, of whom there are unfortunately fewer and fewer, as skilled doctors leave the largest hospital in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Thus, in her appearances where she praises her own work so far (almost six months since her appointment), Director Izetbegović says that waiting lists have been shortened. And some have been, to be fair, such as blood test results and breast cancer screenings, but Dr. Izetbegović does not mention that, on the other hand, lists have also been extended and waiting times for some other examinations have increased.

Documents obtained by the news agency Patria prove the above claims. Namely, a patient from Vitez, born in 1980, who was referred to KCUS on May 11, 2016 for diagnostic tests including an MRI of the brain and an EEG, will wait almost a year, because she is scheduled for an MRI on March 28, 2017!?

What will happen to the patient in the next year is obviously of no concern to Dr. Izetbegović. On the other hand, given that Dr. Izetbegović emphasizes her organizational and managerial skills, should it be noted that this completed examination would have been paid for, so at a time of large KCUS debts, Dr. Izetbegović is apparently not interested in money, which contradicts managerial work.
