Dr. Drljević promotes 'Covid Amarcord': A remembrance of the fight against the virus, BiH lost a city the size of Goražde

(Patria) - Zenica-based infectologist Dr. Ednan Drljević will promote his book "Covid Amarcord" in Sarajevo tomorrow, December 27th, in which he autobiographically described his experiences in the fight against the recent Covid-19 pandemic.

Drljević led this fight as the head of the Infectious Diseases Department of the Cantonal Hospital Zenica and the General Hospital Sarajevo, as well as the crisis staffs of Zenica-Doboj Canton and Sarajevo Canton. The book is partly autobiographical, while its second part summarizes his nearly three-year struggle with the coronavirus from his perspective.

In a statement to Patria, he answers the question of why he wrote the book 'Covid Amarcord'.

"It is my remembrance of Covid. New pandemics like Covid and similar diseases will surely come again. We have learned very little from the last pandemic. These and similar books are a reminder of the fight against this last pandemic, and recommendations on what to do to ensure the next pandemic claims fewer victims than this last one, in which we in Bosnia and Herzegovina lost a city the size of Goražde.

We must all engage in this fight: humane citizens, politicians, economists, psychologists, media, empathetic and professional doctors. This book is a remembrance of the fight against the virus, but also against unempathetic colleagues who got lost in politics like geese in fog. At the same time, it is an ode to patients, the media, and healthcare workers who dedicated 1,000 days of their lives to fighting this scourge," says Drljević.

The book actually talks about mental states - how to overcome confusion, disorientation, and how to take command. When you are in command, you have to command and believe in what you are doing. Even if there is nothing, you have to believe in your instincts and experience.

The book promotion will be held on **December 27th, starting at 7 PM** at the premises of the Cultural and Artistic Society Proleter (SCC building, 4th floor).
