Dr. Cerić: I did in four days what Bakir didn't in four years

The US administration is again focusing on BiH, which is also evident in Resolution 746 presented by New Jersey Congressman Chris Smith to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, said Dr. Mustafa Cerić, an independent candidate for the Bosniak member of the Presidency of BiH, at today's press conference, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

We remind you that this Resolution followed Dr. Cerić's visit to the US, where he met with high-ranking officials of American diplomacy.

- We achieved success, and in four days of our stay, we arrived at this Resolution, which the BiH Presidency, especially the Bosniak member of the Presidency, did not achieve in four years - said Dr. Cerić.

Resolution 746 wholeheartedly supports the territorial integrity, sovereignty, legal continuity, and entirety of BiH within its internationally recognized borders. It also strongly condemns the rhetoric of division and the abuse of legal protections, and the denial of the genocide in Srebrenica in 1995.

As stated in the text of the Resolution, the upcoming General Elections on October 12 are an opportunity for voters to express support for reforms and Euro-Atlantic integration. The European Union and NATO have been called upon to make clear the concrete steps that BiH needs to take on its path to membership.

Congressman Smith, in his address, said that he spoke with Dr. Cerić last week about BiH and the direction it should take.

- Nineteen years after the genocide in Srebrenica and the Dayton Peace Agreement, ethnic divisions are still strong. Today, only Bosniaks, Serbs, and Croats can be elected to Parliament or the Presidency, which is also a legacy of the Dayton Agreement - said Smith, who, among other things, stated that while Milorad Dodik, the president of RS, calls for public squares to be named after war criminals, Dr. Cerić is a vote for peace, human rights, the rule of law, and accountability for genocide.

The presented Resolution 746 is now under consideration and will be debated, after which a vote will follow in Congress. Congressman Bill Keating of Massachusetts also supported this Resolution.

Addressing journalists, Dr. Cerić said that a new Constitution of BiH, in line with European standards, is necessary.

Commenting on the upcoming elections, he emphasized that a request will be submitted to the Central Election Commission of BiH to examine the hands of those who will count the votes, so that they cannot invalidate the ballots in any way, writes Patria.
