Dr. Cerić issues appeal: Do not allow the people to sink

The water element has once again struck the already endangered population of Željezno Polje, Žepče, Maglaj, Doboj, Gračanica. Assistance to that population is necessary, appealed Dr. Mustafa Cerić, independent candidate for the Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Dr. Cerić, who recently visited the affected areas himself, expresses concern over the fact that the responsible institutions of our country did not react in time to help the population already affected by the floods in May this year.

It is unclear, emphasizes Dr. Cerić, what happened to the funds, i.e., donations that arrived from all over the world. Why, in this specific case, are the residents of Željezno Polje, whose houses were swallowed by a landslide, still waiting for plots on which they could eventually build new homes?

- The latest weather disasters are yet another warning that responsible institutions and services must not constantly be unprepared for rapid and adequate assistance. The people affected by floods and other natural disasters must not suffer due to the inefficiency and disorganization of those responsible - Dr. Cerić states.
