Dr. Cerić met with Pope Francis and presented him with the "Srebrenica Flower"

At the invitation of Pope Francis, Dr. Mustafa Cerić today attended a prayer for peace and for the victims of World War I and all wars in the world, held in Redipuglia, Italy, writes the Patria News Agency.

After the prayer, Dr. Cerić had a brief conversation with Pope Francis, and presented him with the "Srebrenica Flower", a symbol of one of the greatest sufferings of Bosniaks, the genocide in Srebrenica.

The attendance at the prayer and the brief meeting with Pope Francis is a recognition of the suffering of Bosniaks in World War I. Tens of thousands of Bosniaks died in military ranks and were buried in the military cemetery in Trieste-Gorizia, which prompted the need for an initiative to identify and adequately mark their graves.
