Dr. Cerić: US-BiH Partnership is Alive and Active

Dr. Mustafa Cerić, independent candidate for the Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, welcomes the views published on his blog by Nicholas Hill, Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in our country, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

Hill, on his blog, called on the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to vote wisely in the upcoming elections, to vote, above all, against corruption, "which is destroying an already fragile economy, while petty corruption makes people's lives harder day by day."

Corruption, as Hill states, costs 47 convertible marks every second, or slightly more than four million marks daily, which is more than alarming.

- The views of Nicholas Hill prove that the partnership between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States of America is alive and active, which I myself have seen during a recent visit to America - said Dr. Cerić.

- Therefore, I expect that such an active role of the US in developing democratic values and protecting the human rights of all people in our country will continue, and we especially emphasize gratitude for the US assistance to those affected by the floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina - said Dr. Cerić.

Dr. Cerić thanked the administration in Washington and once again emphasized the importance of Resolution 746, submitted to Congress by Congressman Christopher Smith.

We remind you that, at the initiative of Dr. Cerić, Congressman Smith submitted a draft Resolution on Bosnia and Herzegovina to the US Congress, which expresses unconditional support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country, calls for urgent reforms, but also for clearer positions from Europe and NATO regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina's approximation to Euro-Atlantic integrations.

The Resolution also condemns hate speech and division, as well as the denial of genocide, and emphasizes the need to strengthen the civil sector and citizen participation in the country's political life.

- I hope that this Resolution will soon be adopted by Congress, which will open new opportunities for our country. We understand that the past has only one possibility that has already happened, but we must realize that the future has many possibilities, and therefore we must think about the future. The proposed Resolution offers a future for our country and all its citizens - emphasized Dr. Cerić.

Therefore, he added, "we expect from Congress, the White House, as well as the US Embassy in Sarajevo, to continue to be active and to help us achieve the best and brightest future for all people in Bosnia and Herzegovina."
