Dr. Cerić on the campaign: Let's compete with morality and responsibility, not mutual insults!

Dr. Mustafa Cerić, an independent candidate for a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, calls on all parties and candidates for the upcoming general elections, especially those for the Bosniak member of the state Presidency, to refrain from accusations, hate speech, public slander, and discreditation, reports the BH News Agency Patria (NAP).

- The election campaign has not officially even begun, and citizens and voters are exposed to fierce conflicts between political parties and their candidates, with salvos of mutual accusations, which often have a humiliating character and are far from fair and democratic political competition. Citizens are tired of political quarrels and want to see a different culture of political dialogue, new ideas, and programs to overcome the crisis - stated Dr. Cerić.

He adds that a dirty political campaign leaves too deep a mark on an already divided and unstable BiH society, especially among Bosniaks, and discourages them from participating in elections, which may be someone's intention.

- Our people are at a historical crossroads. This is all the more reason for us to resist new divisions, humiliation, and self-destruction. The intra-Bosniak conflict must no longer threaten the fundamental interests, foundations of the state, and the future of the nation. It is not the time for those who want to be first among Bosniaks to stoop to the lowest political levels, devoid of ethics, morality, and democracy. If someone wants a position only because they claim their opponent is worse than them, then they do not understand the nature of democracy. We call on all candidates to compete in goodness, and not to offer Bosniaks again to choose the "lesser evil" - emphasizes Dr. Cerić.

At the same time, Dr. Cerić also calls on the institutions of the rule of law, especially the Central Election Commission, prosecutor's offices, and courts, to continue to act independently and resist political pressure, especially during the pre-election period.

- Elections are a democratic process that should offer citizens the chance to choose the best, but life continues after the elections. Therefore, we call on political leaders for reason, ethics, responsibility, and fair political competition without sabotage, humiliation, and sowing discord - appeals Dr. Cerić, reports NAP.
