Dr. Cerić: Let's not call friends enemies

The election campaign in our country has begun to take on international proportions. It is regrettable that for the purposes of low, daily political propaganda, attacks are being made on our country's friends, simply because they present facts and remind us of what we all already know very well, especially the people in Željezno Polje, Maglaj, Topčić Polje, Žepče, Doboj, said Dr. Mustafa Cerić, an independent candidate for the Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, commenting on the reactions of some politicians, especially those from the ruling parties, to the statements of some American officials in our country, reports Patria.

American diplomats recently criticized the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina on their blog for inefficiency, and openly asked them what happened to the hundreds of millions of dollars in aid sent to the population affected by the floods.

- Residents whose homes were destroyed by floods or landslides fear every new rain, let alone winter. Their problems have not been solved, nor is there enough time to solve them before winter, and the funds for it were available. Those who perceive the well-intentioned criticism of our friends as an insult or threat should finally face their own inability to lead this country. Instead of trying to deceive the people again by turning friends into enemies and selling them their empty story right before the elections, they would be better off opening their wallets and helping the people in need - emphasized Dr. Cerić.

Negative, thoughtless, and unnecessary reactions, adds Dr. Cerić, come precisely at a time when the US Congress has included a proposal for a new resolution on our country on its agenda.

- It is regrettable that the American administration is currently thinking more about the well-being of our country than those who lead it. It is even more regrettable that, instead of supporting the new resolution and accepting the well-intentioned suggestions of American diplomats, as well as the international community, the politicians in power in our country are only concerned with how to retain that power. It is pathetic that their own interest is above all else, especially above the state and the people who fear new floods - stated Dr. Cerić.
